A Happy New Year, And Time For Reflections
Another strange year has come and gone, and the world is still in turmoil. As the Chinese say, we are living in ‘interesting times’! Yet most of you are still safe and well, and still in business, so we all still have a lot to be grateful for, and a reason to be mildly optimistic that 2022 will be ‘less interesting’, and more mundane and profitable.
As is my tradition, tonight, before I celebrate too hearty, I will be sitting down and contemplating the year that was, and what I can do to make 2022 more profitable and enjoyable. It occurs to me that you all might enjoy doing the same soul-searching exercise I do every year, so I decided to publish my twelve-point checklist for you all. Enjoy!
- What can I learn from the accomplishment I’m most proud of this year?
- What did I do that worked well and how can I replicate it next year?
- What do I wish I did better?
- What mistakes did I make this year and what can I learn from them?
- What will it REALLY take to make next year a success?
- What projects and processes do I need to put in place to make that success happen?
- What’s holding me back from making these goals happen?
- What was my biggest break-through moment this year?
- What activities did I enjoy the most, that gave me the most energy and how can I do them more or better next year?
- What two or three major themes kept recurring this year and why?
- What was missing from last year as I look back?
